Daily schedule
Our daily schedule offers time for children to participate in both group activities and independent child choice activities.
Centre Opens
7:30 a.m.
Children are encouraged to walk into the Centre and place their bags in their assigned cubbyhole.
Morning Tea
8:15 a.m.
Morning tea is provided for children to come as they please. Children serve themselves a portion of morning tea and pour their own milk. Children’s self-paced learning inside begins.
Free Play and Intentionally Planned Experiences
9:00 a.m.
Children have the choice of free play or participating in experiences based on their interests, which are facilitated by educators.
Mat Session
10:30 a.m.
Children gain self-help skills as they remove their shoes and socks, place their hats in their hat pockets and prepare for the mat session. The mat session starts with the acknowledgement of country, led by the children. Educators read stories that align with the room curriculum and children’s interests.
Lunchtime
11:15 a.m.
Children prepare for lunch by washing their hands. Children are served their first portion of lunch. Afterwards, they are invited to serve themselves seconds. To build self-help skills, educators encourage children to pour their own water and scrape their own lunch bowls once they have finished their meals.
Sleep Time
12:00 noon
Children have their midday sleep. Children who do not sleep rest on their pillows/mattresses before transitioning to quiet activities.
Afternoon Teatime
2:00 p.m.
Afternoon tea is provided to the group. Children serve themselves a portion of afternoon tea and pour their own milk. Afterwards, self-paced learning resumes.
Outdoor Play
3:00 p.m.
Children are supported to pack away the inside toys. Children get ready for outdoor play by applying sunscreen and hats.
Late Snack
5:00 p.m.
Children wash their hands and then sit together to have a late snack. This is a nice time for children to wind down and reflect on their day with their peers and educators. Children can choose an activity or read a book with their educators as the day ends.
Centre Closes
6:00 p.m.
